Dr. Sreedhar Vijayakrishnan

Dr Sreedhar Vijayakrishnan is an ecologist by training, with research and teaching interests in environmental sciences, sustainability studies, behavioural ecology, conservation biology, evolutionary biology, urban ecology and synurbization, and human–animal interrelationships. Dr Vijayakrishnan did his PhD on the socioecology and physiology of Asian elephants from the National Institute of Advanced Studies, Bangalore. He has authored several research publications and popular science articles on various aspects of conservation, with particular focus on the Asian elephants. He works very closely with various state forest departments on policy matters related to elephants. He was also part of the crew of the documentary, The Elephant Whisperers that won the Oscars in 2023, in the role of Scientific Advisor. He is also part of the IUCN Species Survival Commission's Asian Elephant Specialist Group.
