Vision

The interdisciplinary Centre of Excellence in Smart Healthcare is established with the
vision to advance intelligent diagnostics, therapeutics, preventive care, and remote
healthcare through rigorous multidisciplinary research, innovation, and industry
collaboration.

By leveraging artificial intelligence, machine learning, internet of things, robotics, bigdata analytics, and secure digital infrastructures, the Centre will catalyze the next waveof healthcare transformation, moving from treatment-centric models to predictive, preventive, precision, and personalized healthcare.

CORE OBJECTIVES

AI-Driven Imaging and Diagnostics

Develop and deploy AI systems for interpreting medical images including X-rays, MRI, CT, PET, ultrasound, and digital pathology slides. Enhance early detection, disease staging, and clinical accuracy for conditions such as cancer, neurological disorders, cardiovascular diseases, and rare diseases. Support radiologists and clinicians with explainable AI tools that improve trust and decision confidence.

Predictive Analytics and Precision Medicine

Utilize large-scale clinical, genomic, imaging, and lifestyle datasets to predict disease onset, progression, and outcomes. Enable personalized treatment planning by identifying patient-specific risk profiles and therapeutic responses. Advance AI-driven population health models for early intervention and preventive care.

Clinical Decision Support Systems

Design intelligent systems that assist clinicians in diagnosis, treatment selection, drug dosing, and care pathway optimization. Integrate AI tools seamlessly into clinical workflows to reduce cognitive burden and medical errors. Emphasize human-AI collaboration, ensuring AI augments, rather than replaces, clinical expertise.

Healthcare Robotics and Intelligent Automation

Advance AI-powered robotic systems for surgery, rehabilitation, assistive care, and hospital automation. Develop smart robotic platforms for elderly care, post-operative recovery, and physical therapy. Improve efficiency, safety, and precision in clinical and caregiving environments.

Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Multimodal AI

Apply NLP and multimodal AI to extract actionable insights from unstructured data such as clinical notes, discharge summaries, medical literature, and electronic health records. Enable intelligent medical documentation, automated reporting, and clinical knowledge discovery. Support AI systems that integrate text, images, signals, genomics, and sensor data holistically.

Remote Healthcare, Telemedicine, and Digital Health

Develop AI-enabled platforms for remote monitoring, tele-consultation, and home-based care. Utilize wearable sensors, IoT devices, and edge AI for real-time health tracking and alerts. Expand healthcare access to rural, underserved, and aging populations.

AI Research, Innovation, and Translational Development

Conduct fundamental and applied research in medical AI algorithms, foundation models, federated learning, and edge intelligence. Promote rapid translation of research outcomes into clinical pilots, industry solutions, and scalable products. Support innovation through patents, start-ups, spin-offs, and technology transfer.

Education, Capacity Building, and Workforce Development

Offer specialized training programs, certifications, workshops, and interdisciplinary curricula for clinicians, researchers, engineers, and data scientists. Foster a new generation of professionals fluent in both AI technologies and healthcare realities. Encourage cross-disciplinary learning across medicine, engineering, data science, ethics, and policy.

Industry, Hospital, and Policy Collaboration

Establish deep partnerships with hospitals, healthcare providers, pharma companies, med-tech firms, and start-ups. Co-develop AI solutions aligned with real clinical needs and regulatory frameworks. Engage policymakers and regulatory bodies to shape responsible, scalable, and inclusive AI adoption.

Cybersecurity, Privacy, and Trustworthy AI
