Celebrating the Class of 2024
Sai University, Chennai, hosted its Second Convocation Ceremony on October 24, 2025, at its state-of-the-art campus on Old Mahabalipuram Road (OMR). The event celebrated the graduation of the Class of 2024 from the School of Arts and Sciences, School of Computing and Data Science, and School of Law — marking a milestone in the university’s journey as India’s First International Multidisciplinary University.
The convocation blended academic prestige and cultural tradition, as students, faculty, and dignitaries attended in traditional Indian attire — symbolizing Sai University’s unique philosophy of “Global Education, Indian Values.”
Honorary Doctorates for Pioneers in Technology and Academia
Sai University conferred the Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa) on two distinguished leaders:
Shri Ashank Desai, Founder and Chairman of Mastek Ltd. and Founder Member & Former Chairman of NASSCOM, for his pioneering work in India’s IT sector and contributions to educational philanthropy.
Padma Shri Prof. Sankar Kumar Pal, Former Director, Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata, for his global contributions to artificial intelligence, soft computing, and machine learning research.
Both awardees urged students to pursue careers with purpose, passion, and integrity.

Chancellor’s Vision: Building India’s First Global Multidisciplinary University
In his presidential address, Chancellor Shri K.V. Ramani reaffirmed Sai University’s mission to become one of the top 100 global universities within a decade.

Academic Excellence and Global Learning
Vice Chancellor Prof. Ajith Abraham presented the annual report, highlighting Sai University’s rapid academic progress:
56 full-time faculty members with international experience
Over 200 academic and research events hosted
₹1.36 crore in national research grants secured
Semester-abroad programs with Dartmouth College (USA) and New England College (USA)
A total of 50 students received their degrees, with nine medals awarded for academic excellence.
Graduates took the Sai University Oath, pledging integrity, professionalism, and social commitment in their careers.
