Prof. (Dr.) Sanjeev Ratna Singh is a highly respected media educator, media researcher, and one of the pioneers of digital journalism with more than 25 years of experience within both international news organizations and in higher education leadership positions. As the Dean of the School of Media at Sai University, he provides a collaborative educational environment that combines the professional practices of the media industry with internationally recognized liberal arts standards.


Academic Leadership & Institutional Building: As a specialist in creating curricula compliant to the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, Prof. Singh has demonstrated his ability to create academic institutions ready for the future. Prior to taking up the position of Dean and Professor at the Times School of Media, Bennett University, he was Associate Dean at the School of Modern Media, UPES Dehradun. Additionally, he has extensive experience providing administrative support with respect to regulatory requirements; ensuring his institution's preparedness for NAAC accreditation; and developing collaborations between institutions globally. He has contributed significantly to the development of advanced Graduate, Post Graduate and Master level programs in addition to the design of "Digital First" media laboratories to replicate current newsrooms.


Media Architect & Digital Strategist: Prior to entering academia, Dr. Singh occupied senior editorial roles with India’s top media houses. In these capacities, he worked as Editor (Digital Broadcast) at Times Internet Limited, where he was responsible for multimedia content development for over 10 different platforms, including The Times of India. He was part of the founding team for the launches of Times Now, NDTV, and Star News. He has continued to evolve and shape the Indian media landscape through his roles as a consultant for Moneycontrol.com, specifically focusing on advice regarding multimedia revenue generation and transforming newsrooms.


Research, AI, and Thought Leadership: Dr. Singh’s research is located at the nexus of technology and democracy. Dr. Singh authored The Online Effect (Bloomsbury, 2024), which represents a landmark study on the effects of social media on Indian elections. His more recent research efforts have focused heavily on artificial intelligence. Specifically, he has contributed chapters for Springer Nature and IGI Global on the use of AI in communication, ethics, and media education. He also co-created the Mehta-Singh Social Index, a comprehensive, data-driven repository of political and caste-based social data.

School of Media

We are excited to announce the launch of the School of Media at Sai University, with its dynamic programs set to begin in the 2025-26 academic year. Guided by the university’s commitment to interdisciplinary and liberal education, the School of Media Studies is dedicated to nurturing creative thinkers, storytellers, and media professionals who are ready to shape the future of communication and entertainment.


The curriculum emphasizes experiential learning through studio work, internships and collaborations with media professionals, fostering innovation and adaptability. Guided by experienced faculty, graduates will be well-prepared to pursue careers in film, television, digital media, advertising, journalism and beyond.
