Dr. Saraswathi Krithivasan was the project manager of the prestigious e-Yantra project at IIT Bombay, one of the flagship projects of the National Mission on Education through ICT (NMEICT). As part of the project, she was responsible for various e-Yantra initiatives: creating a network of several hundred Robotics labs in colleges across India, bringing hands-on practical education to these colleges, and the much admired e-Yantra Robotics Competition (eYRC), through which thousands of student teams learn concepts and implement a solution to a gamified version of a real-world problem over a 4-5 month period. She has managed the SMARS project that recommended the smart card standards to Reserve Bank of India based on a trial implementation in IIT Bombay campus and the neighborhood. She has managed the Distance Education Program – connecting various universities and colleges to participate in courses offered by expert faculty at IIT Bombay. Saraswathi is also an artist who works with oil pastels, plays the veena, and explores Bharatanatyam in her free time. Dr. Ajith Abraham is the Vice Chancellor at Sai University, Chennai. Before joining Sai University, he held the position of Vice Chancellor at prominent institutions and was also the Founding Director of Machine Intelligence Research Labs (MIR Labs), a non-profit scientific network for innovation and research excellence with headquarters in Seattle, USA. Dr. Abraham has completed research projects valued at over $110 million as an investigator or co-investigator from the United States, the European Union, Italy, the Czech Republic, France, Malaysia, China, and Australia. He has worked in a multidisciplinary setting for more than 35 years and has authored or co-authored more than 1,500 research publications in artificial intelligence and related applications in the industry. A handful of his publications have been translated into Chinese and Russian, and one of his books has been translated into Japanese. The Scopus database has approximately 1,400 papers indexed, whereas the Thomson Web of Science has over 1,000 publications indexed. In addition to other esteemed universities, Dr. Abraham has worked with researchers from MIT (USA), the University of Cambridge (UK), Harvard University (USA), and Oxford University (UK). According to Google Scholar, Dr. Abraham possesses over 63,000 scholarly citations with an H-index of over 118. He has delivered over 250 conference plenary talks and tutorials in more than 20 countries. From 2008 to 2021, Dr. Abraham chaired the IEEE Systems Man and Cybernetics Society Technical Committee on Soft Computing, which has more than 200 members. From 2011 to 2013, he represented Europe as a Distinguished Lecturer for the IEEE Computer Society (USA). Dr. Abraham is continuously listed in the Stanford/Elsevier list, highlighting the top 2% of the most cited scientists across the globe. Based on 2024 data, ScholarGPS listed Dr. Abraham as one of the world’s top 0.01% cited scientists in the engineering and computer science fields. From 2016 to 2021, Dr. Abraham worked as the Chief Editor of Engineering Applications of Artificial Intelligence (EAAI) at Elsevier, New York. EAAI is one of the oldest journals (founded in 1988) in the artificial intelligence domain. Additionally, he sat on the editorial boards of more than 15 international journals indexed by Thomson ISI. Dr. Abraham received his Ph.D. degree in artificial intelligence from Monash University, Melbourne, Australia (2001), a Master of Science degree from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (1998), and a B.Tech (Hons) degree from the University of Calicut in 1990. School of Law hosted an engaging talk by Mr. Sarath Mohan on the theme: “One Person One Vote" 3 September 2025 On September 3rd, Sai University hosted an engaging talk by Mr. Sarath Mohan, Assistant Professor, School of Law, on the theme: “One Person One Vote: Demarcating Democracy Through Delimitation.” The session connected the technical process of drawing electoral district boundaries with the foundational principles of democracy. Mr. Mohan explored how the act of defining political borders can either strengthen or weaken representation, equality, and fairness. Key highlights included: The principle of “One Person One Vote” and its role in a representative democracy. How delimitation can uphold or violate constitutional values. The present crisis in India regarding delimitation under Articles 81 and 82 of the Constitution. Possible solutions and methods to ensure delimitation is conducted in a fair and just manner. The talk emphasized that the way we draw our electoral boundaries directly shapes the health of our democracy.

About Education Research Interests Major Works Dr. Mrinalini Kannan Assistant Professor Mrinalini has over 9 years of research experience in the field of natural language processing, machine learning, and speech processing. She earned her PhD in 2022 from Anna University, Chennai. She has several publications in both international journals and conferences including journals such as IEEE Transactions on Audio, Speech, and Language Processing (IEEE TASLP) and ACM Transactions on Asian and Low-Resource Language Information Processing (ACM TALLIP). Mrinalini was a Senior Project Officer with the Speech and Language Technologies Lab (SLT) at Sri Sivasubramaniya Nadar College of Engineering, Chennai. She served as the co-investigator for a research project funded by HCL Technologies Ltd. She has mentored UG and PG students for their academic projects. Additionally, she also worked as the Principal Consultant (NLP) for an AI start-up in Chennai.

About Education Research Interests Major Works Grace Joy Lecturer Master’s degree in English Language and Comparative Literature from Pondicherry Central University Grace has two years of experience in the field of writing studies and has worked across the domain including research on postcolonial ecocriticism, the role of an author in shaping implicit memory related to one’s environment. Grace completed a Master’s degree in English Language and Comparative Literature from Pondicherry Central University in 2020. She began her career as an editorial assistant at DC Books, handling english translation works and Mango books (children’s book imprint of DC). She was part of the Malayalam translation team of Amar Chitra Katha, and was one of the coordinators of the Kerala Literature Festival. She has worked briefly as a lecturer at St. Mary’s college, Thrissur before joining Sai University.

About Education Research Interests Major Works Dr. Shailender Swaminathan Visiting Professor, Economics PhD in Economics from University of Southern California Shailender’s broad research interests are in the formulation and application of credible research designs to examine questions of relevance to public policy. In recent work, he has worked on understanding the impact of health insurance expansions on utilization and health in both the United States and India. Shailender returned to India with family after spending about two decades in the United States holding diverse academic and research positions at the University of Michigan Ann Arbor, the University of Alabama, Birmingham, and Brown University. Shailender has a PhD in Economics from University of Southern California and is an adjunct faculty member in Brown University’s Department of Health Policy and an Investigator at the Providence Veterans Administration (VA). His work has been published in several journals including the Journal of the American Medical Association, Journal of Health Economics, Health Affairs, and the Economic Development and Cultural Change. One of the previous papers received the Academy Health Article of the Year award in 2009. His work on the role of the Affordable Care Act has been cited as evidence in a recent US Supreme Court case on the pros versus cons of expanding health insurance coverage.
