    About Education Research Interests Major Works Prof. Krithi Ramamritham Distinguished Professor of Computer Science PhD in Computer Science, University of Utah Dr. Krithi Ramamritham has spent almost equal lengths of time at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and at IIT Bombay as a Chair Professor of Computer Science and Engineering. He has served as Dean (R&D) at IIT Bombay and headed IIT Bombay’s Center for Urban Science and Engineering (CUSE). His current research involves applying computational approaches to energy management, based on his S M A R T principle: Sense Meaningfully, Analyze and Respond Timely . This work exploits and extends the state of the art in database systems, real-time computing, sensor networks, embedded systems, mobile computing and smart grids. He has guided close to 40 PhD students. Krithi’s publications garnered over 24,500 citations with an h-index of 82 . He is a Fellow of the IEEE, ACM, Indian Academy of Sciences, National Academy of Sciences, India, and the Indian National Academy of Engineering. He was honored with a Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa) by the University of Sydney, Australia. He is also a recipient of the Distinguished Alumnus Award from IIT Madras. Twice he received the IBM Faculty Award. He received the 2016 Outstanding Technical Contributions and Leadership Award from the IEEE Technical Committee for Real-Time Systems and the Outstanding Service Award from IEEE’s CEDA. He has received IIT Bombay’s HH Mathur Award for Excellence in Research in Applied Sciences. He was awarded the IIT Madras Robert Bosch Centre’s Distinguished Fellowship and the SC Sahasrabuddhe Lifetime Achievement Award from IIT Bombay recently.

    About Education Research Interests Major Works Prof. (Dr.) Xiao-Zhi Gao University of Eastern Finland Finland Xiao-Zhi Gao received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees from the Harbin Institute of Technology, China in 1993 and 1996, respectively. He obtained his D.Sc. (Tech.) degree from the Helsinki University of Technology (now Aalto University), Finland in 1999. He is now working as a professor of data science at the University of Eastern Finland, Finland. Prof. Gao has published more than 500 technical papers on refereed journals and international conferences, and his current Google Scholar H-index is 50. His research interests are nature-inspired computing methods (e.g., neural networks, fuzzy logic, evolutionary computing, swarm intelligence, and artificial immune systems) with their applications in optimization, data mining, machine learning, networking, control, signal processing, and industrial electronics.
