About Education Research Interests Major Works Dr. Shailender Swaminathan Visiting Professor, Economics PhD in Economics from University of Southern California Shailender’s broad research interests are in the formulation and application of credible research designs to examine questions of relevance to public policy. In recent work, he has worked on understanding the impact of health insurance expansions on utilization and health in both the United States and India. Shailender returned to India with family after spending about two decades in the United States holding diverse academic and research positions at the University of Michigan Ann Arbor, the University of Alabama, Birmingham, and Brown University. Shailender has a PhD in Economics from University of Southern California and is an adjunct faculty member in Brown University’s Department of Health Policy and an Investigator at the Providence Veterans Administration (VA). His work has been published in several journals including the Journal of the American Medical Association, Journal of Health Economics, Health Affairs, and the Economic Development and Cultural Change. One of the previous papers received the Academy Health Article of the Year award in 2009. His work on the role of the Affordable Care Act has been cited as evidence in a recent US Supreme Court case on the pros versus cons of expanding health insurance coverage.

Lecturer, School of Allied Health Sciences M.P.T. in Neuroscience, Saveetha College of Physiotherapy Ms. Mythili S. joins the School of Allied Health Sciences at Sai University with a background in Neuroscience and Physiotherapy. Her clinical internship experience includes placements at NIEPMD, YMCA, Pain and Stroke Rehabilitation Centre, Chennai, and Maximus Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Centre, Bengaluru, where she developed skills in patient assessment, rehabilitation, and physiotherapy management. She has undergraduate teaching experience and conducted academic seminars during her postgraduate studies. Her academic and research achievements include a Gold Medal for Scientific Research Paper Presentation and Second Prize for Poster Presentation at two international conferences. Prof. Debashis Chatterjee has taught leadership classes at Harvard University and at the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) of Calcutta, Lucknow and Kozhikode for nearly three decades. The longest-serving director of a first-generation IIM, he was reappointed to head IIM Kozhikode for a third five-year term in June 2023. Prof. Chatterjee has been awarded the prestigious Fulbright Fellowship twice for pre-doctoral and postdoctoral work at Harvard University. A prolific author, he has published fiction and non-fiction, including Leading Consciously, Krishna: The 7th Sense and Timeless Leadership, which have been translated into several national and international languages. WE WANT TO PUT SAIU IN THE GLOBAL MAP: K. V. RAMANI “Our vision is to be a global university from India; we do not want to be yet another Indian university,” said SaiU’s Chancellor K. V. Ramani, in an interview to BLoC, Business Line on Campus. Mr. Ramani said that Sai University (SaiU), established in Chennai is all set to start its academic programs in August 2021. While Sai will add to the list of the many private universities in India, the Founder-Chancellor said that SaiU will be in the global map, due to its unique offerings. In the interview, Mr. Ramani also talks about roping in consultant KPMG to research into the scope, student ratios and also provide a 15-year road map for the project. Interdisciplinary and flexible learning will be at the core of SaiU’s academic philosophy, says Dr. Jamshed Bharucha, Founding Vice Chancellor, in the interview.
