About Education Research Interests Major Works Dr. Aravindraja Chairmandurai Visiting Faculty, School of Arts and Sciences and Technology Postdoc and Junior Faculty from the University of Florida, USA. Dr. Aravindraja Chairmandurai is an accomplished biomedical scientist with more than 10 years of translational research experience spanning neurodegenerative diseases, oral microbiome research, and molecular microbiology. His expertise includes animal model development, iPSC-derived neuron and astrocyte assays, microRNA profiling, and studies on infectious disease mechanisms. Dr. Chairmandurai earned his Master’s degree (2009) and Doctoral degree (2017) in Biotechnology from Alagappa University, India. During his Ph.D., In addition to his research accomplishments, Dr. Chairmandurai is an active educator and mentor. He has taught Molecular Biology practical courses for postgraduate students and has served as a resource person for workshops on genomics and proteomics. About Education Research Interests Major Works Priyanka Lecturer Priyanka holds a Master’s degree in Data Science from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Palakkad, Kerala. She completed her B.Sc. (Hons.) in Mathematics from Punjabi University, Patiala, and her M.Sc. in Mathematics from Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. In 2023, she qualified the GATE examination in Mathematics. As part of her Master’s thesis at IIT Palakkad, she conducted research on Scene Text Recognition for Indic Scripts, where she experimented with a novel approach using Vision Transformers, Focal Modulation Networks, Permuted Language Modeling, and Denoising Autoencoders to recognize scene text in eight Indian languages.She worked as a Teaching Assistant for Database Management Systems, Big Data, and Introduction to Optimization at IIT Palakkad. Additionally, she interned as a Mathematics Expert at Tech Mahindra, where she worked on a project involving Google Gemini’s responses to advanced mathematical problems.

Kavita Pandit is Senior Advisor to the Provost on matters involving academic affairs. In her previous leadership role at Georgia State, she led the Office of Faculty Affairs as Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs, providing supportive infrastructure and programming to recruit, appoint, retain, and support faculty members. Under her leadership, the Office of Faculty Affairs expanded its work to help faculty achieve their full potential at the university, by assisting with policies and procedures such as those dealing with appointment to positions, leaves, and promotion and tenure; development programs, workshops, and fellowships; leadership programming for university administrators and department chairs; and management of Georgia State’s awards process to recognize outstanding faculty. Prior to her arrival at Georgia State, Kavita served as the Associate Provost for International Education at the University of Georgia. Her previous academic and administrative positions include Senior Vice Provost for the State University of New York, Associate Dean of University of Georgia’s Franklin College of Arts and Sciences, and head of the Department of Geography at the University of Georgia. Her academic interests lie in the areas of population geography, migration and economic development, and she has a strong record of publications and funded research. She is a former president of the American Association of Geographers and a fellow of the Association. Her recognitions include the Ron F. He is an Albert Schweitzer Fellow (2018-2019), and a US Fulbright Scholar (2007-2008).
